You rest.” PM Modi was to reach Kolkata on Friday (December 30) to attend the program of flagging off the Vande Bharat Express, but his mother Heeraben died in the morning. That’s why he could not come.

PM Modi’s mother Heeraben was cremated at Mukti Dham in Gandhinagar. After the last rites, he joined the program from Ahmedabad through video conference. On this occasion, Governor CV Anand Bose, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav were also present in Kolkata.
